The Space

Step inside and be transported to a world of historical elegance. The manor boasts spacious, light-filled rooms adorned with period features, including ornate fireplaces, timber beams, and grand mullion windows that frame views of the surrounding countryside.

The drawing room invites relaxation with its comfortable and cozy seating, perfect for family gatherings or quiet evenings by the fire. The Great Hall is ideal for celebrating special occasions with family and friends. 

The kitchen is both stylish and functional, blending traditional charm with modern appliances, perfect for preparing a family feast or casual brunch. Throughout the house, you'll find a mix of antique furnishings and tasteful contemporary touches, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere that balances history with comfort.

Upstairs, the manor's bedrooms are spacious and characterful, each offering a restful sanctuary with luxurious linens and classic décor. Some rooms feature original fireplaces and views over the manicured gardens or rolling countryside, making every stay feel special.

With elegant interiors that echo centuries of history, Poxwell Manor provides the perfect setting for a memorable family holiday or celebratory retreat. 

The Great Hall:  An aptly named, striking room with rich panelled walls, a grand open fireplace framed in stone, and a dining table accommodating up to fourteen guests. 

The Drawing Room: Curved wooden doors lead into a generous, beautifully appointed room with sofa seating, a wall-mounted Smart TV, open fireplace, a grand piano, and views of the walled garden.

Kitchen - Breakfast Room: An open plan and sociable country farmhouse kitchen, with marble worktops and modern appliances. The room is sociable and open plan with a circular dining table to seat six guests. Appliances include: dishwasher, american style fridge freezer, Quooker hot tap and coffee machine. The large range cooker and hob are gas fired. 

Bedrooms: The manor house benefits from seven bedrooms, and six bathrooms, with sleeping accommodation for 14 guests.

Master bedroom suite: Super king size bed with large en-suite bathroom, complete with roll top bath and large walk in shower

'Shabby Chic room': Super King size bed with en-suite bathroom, with shower and bath

Three more bedrooms are located along the bedrooms wing of the house, with a King size bedroom, a shower room, a twin bedroom, a double bedroom and a further bathroom with bath and shower overhead. 

There is also a ground floor twin bedroom, with access to a nearby ground floor toilet and sink and access to it's own bathroom located up one flight of stairs. 

Swimming Pool: Outdoor swimming pool, with loungers and seating. Please note, the swimming pool is not heated.

Games Room: Pool table, books, board games.

TV Room: With comfortable easy eating and books to read, Smart TV with Sky Sports, views of the garden - a quiet space to relax. 

Utility Room: Washing machine and tumble dryer. 

Pets: Maximum of two dogs welcome, charged at £30 per dog. Please do not leave dogs unattended in the property or the grounds, and dogs are not permitted upstairs. 

Bedding and towels: Provided for the house and swimming pool, please bring your own beach towels. 

Parking: Private driveway parking for up to six cars. 

Travel Cot and Highchair: Available on request. 

Garden and grounds: The manor benefits from extensive gardens, set in ten acres of manicured grounds which are regularly maintained by a full time gardener. Please be aware that there are lakes in the grounds and children and pets should be accompanied at all times. The property has a shared driveway, which it shares with Stable Cottage, a self contained holiday cottage set in the grounds of the manor house. Stable Cottage is also available for guest bookings, please enquire for availability.

History & Local Area

It is understood that King George III visited the Jacobean manor house on a number of occasions. The renowned author Thomas Hardy used the Manor as Oxwell Hall in "The Trumpet Major". Its rich heritage coupled with the idyllic Dorset landscape makes it a must visit destination for history enthusiasts, architectural admirers and those seeking a retreat from the modern world.
