Description
Martie Cottage is a delightful thatched cottage, located in the peaceful Dorset village of West Stafford, just 2 miles out of Dorchester. The village is well known for its pituresque setting, with countryside walks in abundance. There is also a very highly recommended local pub just a few steps from the cottage front door!
Once inside, Martie Cottage is cosy and welcoming with an open plan cottage kitchen and dining room complete with AGA stove and large patio doors opening out to the sunny rear garden. There is a dining table for four people, SMEG fridge / freezer and ceramic sink along with everything else you'll need to enjoy cooking on holiday. Through to the living room, which benefits from many of the original features, including exposed ceiling beams, the original bread oven and a wood burning stove for the cooler months.
Acommodating five people, in three bedrooms all on the first floor, Martie Cottage is an ideal base for a family or for two couples. Overlooking the garden is the master bedroom, with stylish decor and King size bed. Also on this side of the cottage is the second bedroom, with built in wardrobe and double bed. Just across the hallway is the single bedroom, and family bathroom.
There is also a useful utility room on the ground floor, complete with a belfast sink, washing machine and W.C. The garden is lawned and enclosed; ideal for pets and children, with a seating area and easy gated access from the private parking space. Pets welcome!

Martie Cottage was a great place to stay for a week. The house is exactly as described, the photos are accurate, and the enclosed garden was great for our dog. There's plenty to do within close driving distance.

Very nice, spacious and cozy cottage in beautiful small village . Everything complete and clean. Great base to explore Dorset and visit the coast. In the immediate vicinity of the cottage, there are more than enough opportunities to walk the dog and eat delicious food in the pub around the corner.

It was a perfect and very comfortable base for a few days away with friends. The cottage is very well equipped and we particularly enjoyed cooking on/in the Aga. The area is very quiet and peaceful. The pub is 2min walking distance, good food and friendly service. Hosts are very helpful and responsive. Thank you for a lovely stay.
